Institutionalization of the immediate post-partum of IUD services in six sites in Kenya.
The project aims to provide routinely the practice of immediate postpartum placement of IUD as a cost effective method in the armamentarium of family planning options.
The project has twinned the Obstetrician & Gynecologist with the nursing officers in charge of maternity and reproductive health services as partners in ensuring the institutionalization of this services in the six sites.
With training and support of equipment the sites have reported increased uptake of IUD among postnatal women.
The overall impact of the project is to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality.
